Two Deaf Cyclist joins Cape Argus 2011
Well done Johan Reyneke and Claudell Smit for completing the 34th edition of the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour 2011! Who could have predicted a perfect weather conditions? Johan Reyneke, experience cycling, finished before three hours at 02:40 - just eight minutes behind the winner! Wow!
It took almost 9 hours for Claudell Smit to finish her race, arrived 17:25 at finish line with stiff legs and sore butt!
Each year, The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour Team, have a look at the potential weather conditions of the day and make a theoretical prediction – based on previous years’ statistics – of how many finishers they will have. This time, however, they got it wrong. There was no wind! There was no extreme heat! And this time around they ran out of medals before all their finishers came in.
If you know of another Deaf cyclist who participated, please contact us with your name, finishing time and your feeling of accomplished the race to us along with a photo.
